November-April: COLLEGE BASKETBALL!!
April-June: Pretending like my interest in the NBA regular season was anything more than perfunctory.
June-September: Is the World Cup this summer? No. Okay, well, is there a major golf tournament this weekend? Yes? How’s Tiger shooting?
September-November: Pretending like I’ve rooted for the Reds and/or Twins since April (or jumping on another bandwagon when those two teams are out. 2007 Rockies, anyone?).
Sports that may fall onto my radar: September-February: I will occasionally feign interest in college football or the NFL for the sake of conversation/comradery at the bar. And I almost always watch the last few rounds of the NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl.
April-May: Major golf tournament? How’s Tiger shooting?
May: Kentucky Derby.
Others: Professional soccer and boxing.
Out of the question: NHL and college hockey, tennis, the Olympics, NASCAR and all other forms of auto racing, and MMA.
